Sophomore Mackenzie Popescue hurled her second perfect game of the year as Scottsdale Chaparral defeated Flagstaff 2-0 Thursday in the Softball Tournament of Champions in Bullhead City.

Popescue struck out 13 in seven innings and also knocked in the go-ahead run with a single in the sixth, scoring Kelsey Stander who hit a leadoff double.

Later in the day, Popescue (6-0) followed up that gem with a one-hit shutout, striking out 10 batters in seven innings of work as Chaparral (6-0) defeated Woodbridge, Calif., 1-0. Popescue also scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning when she tripled and scored on a hit by Caitlin Melnychenko.
